Message from the President |
Dear Skalleagues,
Our most sincere thanks to Captain Sofge for hosting a very memorable event on his Biscayne Lady, from the open bars, various gourmet stations to the a most beautiful sailing! It was an unforgettable St. Patty’s Day event!
We also had an opportunity to host our SKAL International President, Hulya Aslantas, who was visiting many of the US SKAL Club from Turkey.
Here is a highlight of her visit. “As you know 2009 is a milestone year for our organization celebrating its 75th anniversary internationally and 70th anniversary on the American continent which started with the New York Club, long before tourism and travel was recognized as a major industry sector. On such occasions, I believe it is appropriate that we make some reflections to revaluate our values and our positioning. As we all know our roots are based on "friendship and amicale" which are still the strong values among our members. As such, in the past decade, with NGO's gaining more power, we have also started engaging in local and global projects to ensure responsible and sustainable development in tourism.” Thanks to Bob Burke for offering his hospitality at this home and for Bill Concha for a fantastic dinner created by him!
It has been a true pleasure to serving as your president for the Miami SKAL Club. I thank the board for all the help and dedication throughout this year. SKAL is all about the members and making the venues the best possible for the enjoyment of each other and Amicale spirit! We now have a fantastic Gala set for our incoming President Nina Meyer at the Hotel Sofitel this coming Friday with a great menu and live music! So let’s get dancing!
I wish you all the best, God bless y Gracias!
SKAL!
