Dear Skalleagues,
It was so nice to see all of you at the Westin Diplomat! We had a great evening, many thanks to Loma and Nancy of the beautiful Diplomat.
Our next dinner will be a culinary delight! We will be at Florida International University's Kovens Center on November 18, where our host Joseph West, Dean of FIU's School of Hospitality Management, will delight us with his team! Don't miss this one!
If anyone one has a venue or knows of one for our great SKAL club to hold our dinners, please let Ron Kent or our board members know.
I hope that during this Thanksgiving Holiday, you and your families will have a wonderful time. I am very thankful of having such great friends in a club of such caliber, SKAL International Miami!
May God continue to bless this great Nation and a
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
SKAL!
Ramon Antelo

Nina Meyer
National Director of Leisure for Traveleaders
|
Nina Meyer was born in the Bronx, but grew up in the nearby bedroom community of Mahopac, New York.
She graduated high school and proceeded to the University of Miami where after two years, she met and married Lew. They have two adult sons, who with their lovely wives, gave her two fantastic granddaughters ages 7 years and a 6 month old.
Nina started in the travel industry in 1976 as an Independent Contractor (formerly called outside sales person) for an agency called CIA Travel. While developing her client base, she also did accounting and back office for that company. Within two years, her business expanded to such a degree that it was necessary for her to open her own agency, Vision Travel.
During the years that followed, Vision developed a tour operation for Laker, Arrow and Eastern Airlines as well as three branch locations. Nina closed the tour operations part of her business as the financial instability of her airline partners became obvious. Her agency continued to grow specializing in Leisure Travel.
In 2001, Nina merged Vision Travel with a new company that was being formed by existing companies merging together, Traveleaders. In 2005, Nina became the National Director for Leisure for this 2.2 million-dollar travel company. Her duties included developing some larger group programs. On behalf of Traveleaders, she is the company's "owner of the Virtuoso relationship."
Nina continues to be active in Industry affairs as well, serving the past four years as President of South Florida ASTA, and currently Vice President of the International SKAL Club of Miami. She has also served on many task forces and committees for both ASTA and Virtuoso.
Most recently, TAG (Travel Acquistions Group) acquired Traveleaders and now Nina is part of a 7.2 billion-dollar travel company and is still serving in her current capacity as National Director of Leisure for Traveleaders.

Two Miami Skal Club members visited the Brazil Skal Booth during the ABAV Tradeshow in October spending some time with the president of the Skal Club in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Skal Rio is very interested in becoming Twin Skal City with Miami.
